Ahead of the digital event, Jatin Varma Founder of Comic Con India said,” This year Comic Con India crosses a milestone of completing 10 years in India and we are absolutely thrilled to kick off this anniversary with a week long digital celebration to commemorate the same. This one-week of nostalgia overload will take a look back at that epic first show in 2011, with a lot of throwbacks, panels with people who helped put it together and much more.
When we started the extravaganza, our intention was to just create a fun experience for ourselves and for other pop-culture fans out there. All these years, our journey has been successful due to the love and support of our fans, volunteers, our partners, exhibitors and sponsors. This digital celebration will enable them to relive the nostalgia.”
Jatin Varma brought the concept of International Comics Convention to India and started India’s very own Annual Indian Comics Convention on Feb 19-20th, 2011 at Dilli Haat in New Delhi. The show witnessed a participation of approximately 10000 people, with a few dozen cosplayers and 25-30 exhibitors. The idea was to create unique pop culture experience for fans in India.
